The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent violent attack on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the news agency.

Law enforcement that entered the inn recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, said the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Cook was honored at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at Brown University she was a shining example in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and peers and mourn the loss of his promising future.”

Broader Statistics
