The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Substantial Extension for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the network launched a completely new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. In an era often characterized by cynicism, this show's earnestness struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and championed its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about following this charming family go about their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
