Swedish Team Lineup: Alexander Isak Included Whereas Gyokeres Misses Out
The striker signed with the Gunners from Sporting Lisbon during the offseason
Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres fails to make the cut from Graham Potter's initial Sweden team selection, whereas Reds striker Alexander Isak received a place
Gyokeres is set for further medical tests this week following worries he sustained a hamstring injury in the Gunners's English top flight victory against Burnley last weekend
The 27-year-old was absent from the Gunners' European win against the Czech side earlier this week
Isak Back in Action
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from late October owing to a groin problem, has been chosen for World Cup qualifying matches against Switzerland (November 15th) plus Slovenia (November 18th)
Additional England-based Inclusions
- Tottenham playmaker the young talent, currently rehabilitating after a head knock
- Magpies winger Anthony Elanga
These players feature in Potter's England-based contingent named under former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach the new Swedish coach
Potter's Hiring
Potter took over by Sweden originally for an interim period on 20 October, less than a month after he was dismissed from West Ham
Previous manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked after Sweden's defeat to the Kosovan team on 13 October, a result which rendered direct progression in Group B impossible
Current Position
The Swedish team are currently bottom in their qualifying group with just one point in their opening four games
Should they don't manage to secure second place, there remains a chance they might be involved in the World Cup play-offs because of their performance in the most recent UEFA competition
