How these Denver Broncos together with the 'play-dough' QB can stop that Kansas City Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable in those games were the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.
But it was positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They rank first in red zone defence, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always sending extra defenders instead they could plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They finished last season strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has stepped up big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable down and distances.
It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His strengths include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
If you consistently run the ball it consumes time and forces the opponent to be on the field for longer, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.
Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.
The head coach has won a championship and now passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing on offence is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to hold their division. The key is to continue this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate up to their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
