Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
