Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who breached a fence and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a performance. His Instagram feed features recordings of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further response on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, securing several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
