Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
