Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Opens Patriots Path to Top Spot - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the National Football League
That result could have created opportunities for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - yes the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the league's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but running back De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Containing the league's best running game was also key, with Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three critical turnovers, and the pair from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the calm, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the New England, they're one of three eight and two teams in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but could they be the best?
One could pick holes in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for feasting on the weaker opponents, with only five of their total twenty-four wins coming against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver
The Broncos beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven straight wins, similar to Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns point for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to steer his team to victory
The defense is solid and rookie rusher Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 yards and two exciting scores of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22mph this season on his first score
While you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record thanks to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, although a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also compete for first place but encounter the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There's a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both put up forty points to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major game between the two in LA
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Each could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their pair of losses came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely two of the top teams in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 yards, registering three scores and adding another forty-two {receiving yards
