A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official conducted a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
